National Chung Cheng University (CCU) was founded with the Environmental Protection Division, which was originally under the General Affairs Office. It was later renamed the Environmental Protection Group until December 1987, when it was transformed into the present Environmental Protection and Industrial Safety and Health Center in accordance with the university's organizational regulations. The Center now has two divisions: the Environmental Protection Division and the Safety and Health Division.
